A special Yorkshire fishery

Clear water. Natural sport. Space to breathe.

Two anglers fly fishing together at Tanfield Lodge Lake

Fed by natural springs rising through limestone, the 11-acre lake reaches depths of up to 20 feet and supports abundant insect life.

The former quarry was restored and established as a trout fishery in the early 1980s. Its focus has remained refreshingly simple: healthy fish, affordable sport and tranquil surroundings without assigned pegs or unnecessary formality.
